Putting a showcase on a new device with its recovery key, or creating a new one, and what it starts with
A device with no showcase on it starts on a welcome page. From there you add a showcase you already have, by its recovery key, or wait for one to arrive from your other devices.
On a new device
The app says Welcome to Showcaser, the same on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. A showcase made on another of your devices with the same Apple ID arrives by itself, through iCloud Keychain, usually within a minute or two. Tap or click Check Again to look for it.
Or tap Add with a Recovery Key… and paste the key, open a key file, or on the iPhone and iPad Scan Its QR Code… from the other device's iCloud card. Then Add Showcase. It opens at once.
Creating a new showcase
For now, new showcases are created from the showcase your device was first set up with. Open that one, tap or click the showcase's name at the top, Manage Showcases…, then Add a Showcase.
Give it a Name (what it's called on the site) and pick a Listing schema: Vehicles, Artwork, Tools & equipment or General. As you type the name, the app shows the address it will get. Then Create Showcase.
If you are in a different showcase, the screen says so and names the one to switch to.
What a new showcase starts with
- Its own key, site, listings and address, made from its name (or the next free one like it, such as yourname-2). You can change the address any time. See Your address (ST-9).
- The schema you picked, with its fields and statuses. See The listing schema (SC-1).
- The Cards layout, or the Gallery layout for an Artwork showcase. See Cards and Gallery layouts (ST-4).
- A black-and-white look until you choose a theme. See Themes (ST-7).
It is live and empty. Next, add a few listings, fill in Site details, and save its recovery key somewhere safe. See Your key and iCloud Keychain (GS-3).
The same manual ships inside the app. This section as Markdown
