Filling in a listing's fields by type, adding a new choice from a listing's form, and formatting the description
Below the photos and the status, a listing's form shows your listing schema's fields, then the summary and the description.
Details
Details holds the fields that are on the website, in the schema's order. Each is filled in its own way:
- Text and Number fields are typed. A number with a unit shows it in its label, such as Odometer (mi).
- Money and Year take numbers. Money shows on the site as dollars, such as $12,800.
- A Pick-list is chosen from its list, so the site's buttons and searches match exactly.
- A Date starts empty: tap or click Add Date, then change it; Clear empties it again.
- Dimensions take a width, a height and a unit. See Dimensions and View on your wall (LS-8).
A field with a When empty, show… text shows it in grey while it is empty. That is what the site will say instead, such as Call for price.
A new choice, without leaving the listing
At the bottom of every pick-list is New category… (or New medium…, named for the field). Type the choice and tap or click Add: it is added to your listing schema, so every listing can use it, and picked here. If a built-in schema was in use, this change makes it your own. See The listing schema (SC-1).
Summary
One line people see in the list, under the name and price. Keep it short: One owner, full service history.
Description
As long as you need, in a few kinds of formatting:
**bold**and*italic*## Heading- itemfor a list[text](https://…)for a link
The description has a formatting editor of its own, the same on every device. The site draws headings, lists, bold, italics and links in your theme's colors; anything else stays plain text.
Values the schema no longer offers
If a choice is renamed or removed from a pick-list, a listing that has the old value keeps it. The form shows it in its list marked no longer a choice, and the site still shows it.
The same manual ships inside the app. This section as Markdown
