Adding, renaming, reordering and retyping your schema's fields, and which types a field can be
A field is one thing every listing can have a value for: a Make, a Price, a Size. Your fields are listed under Fields in Inventory Settings (Edit on the listings page), each with its type and a globe (on the website) or a lock (only in this app).
Adding a field
Add Field. Give it a Label, choose its Type, then Add.
The types
- Text: anything typed.
- Number: with an optional Unit shown beside it, such as mi, mm or kg.
- Money: shown as dollars on the site.
- Year.
- Date: picked from a calendar, shown as Oct 2, 2026.
- Pick-list: chosen from Choices you list. Type one under Add a choice and tap or click Add; the minus button beside a choice removes it.
- Dimensions: a width, a height and optionally a depth, in inches or centimeters. See Dimensions and View on your wall (LS-8).
Changing a field
Tap or click a field to open its editor. You can rename it at any time: every listing keeps its value, under the new label. To reorder fields, use the menu beside each one (•••): Move Earlier or Move Later. The order is the order of the listing's form and of a listing's details on the site. As with every change here, it reaches the site when you publish Inventory Settings with the check mark.
Changing a type
While no listing has a value for a field, it can become any type. Once one does, it can change only to a type its values still make sense as: Text and Pick-list to each other, and Number, Money and Year among themselves. The Type menu then lists only those types, and says how many listings have a value. For another type, add a new field instead.
A label that brings values back
If you removed a field but kept its values, giving a new field the same label brings them back. The editor says so first: 12 listings already have a Blade size; they'll show again.
The field's other settings
Each field's editor also has Show on the website, explained in Only in this app (LS-5), and, for fields on the website, Headline, Search filter, Sort by it and When empty, show…. See Headline, search and When empty (SC-3).
Labels can be up to 40 characters, choices up to 60.
