The one-page orientation: a calm website for things you sell in person, run from your own iPhone, iPad or Mac
Showcaser makes a website for things people come and look at: cars on a lot, paintings in a studio, tools in a shop, a sideboard in a driveway. You run it from the app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Visitors browse it, search it, and call, text, email or visit you. The sale happens between people: there is no cart and no checkout.
Your showcase
What you make is a showcase: a site with its listings and pages, at an address like yourname.showcaser.app or at a domain of your own. A showcase has:
- Listings. Photos and video, a status, the fields your kind of thing needs (a price, a year, a size), a one-line summary and a description.
- Pages. The tabs beside your listings, such as About or How to buy, and a Contact page made from your details.
- A look. A layout, a theme and fonts, each chosen from a short list, so every site stays calm and easy to read.
No account
There is no sign-in, no password and no email to confirm. A showcase belongs to a key that the app keeps in your iCloud Keychain, and only that key can change it. Your other Apple devices on the same Apple ID receive the key by themselves. See Your key and iCloud Keychain (GS-3).
The app is the back office
Everything happens in the app: photographing, describing, pricing, publishing, marking something sold. There is no website to sign in to. Your site changes as soon as you publish.
The iPhone, iPad and Mac hold the whole back office, with the same screens. The iPad and Mac add cards side by side and keyboard shortcuts; the Mac adds windows of their own and drag and drop from the Finder. See Finding your way on iPhone and iPad (GS-5) and The Mac window (MAC-1).
What visitors see
A fast page that works on every phone: your name and phone number at the top, your listings, and for each one its photos, its details and the buttons to reach you. Nothing about visitors is kept. See What visitors see (ST-11).
Where to start
- Your first showcase (GS-2): adding one to a new device, or creating one.
- Adding a listing (LS-1): photos, a price, a description, then Publish.
- Site details and contact (ST-1): your name, phone and hours.
The same manual ships inside the app. This section as Markdown
