Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Showcaser is a place to show things people come and look at: a car, a house, a painting, a ring, a sideboard. This policy says what a showcase must not be used for. It is part of our Terms of Service, and it applies to everyone who makes a showcase, and to anyone who uses the Service in any other way.
We don't review showcases before they go live, and we don't watch them. We act on what we are told and what we find (see What we do about misuse).
Never listed
- Anything illegal to sell, offer or advertise where you sell it or where the buyer is.
- Stolen property, or anything with its serial number, VIN or other identifying mark removed or altered.
- Counterfeits, replicas sold as genuine, and pirated goods.
- Recalled products that haven't been repaired, and anything banned from sale.
- Endangered, threatened or protected species, and their parts (ivory, for example), except where the law allows the sale and you have the papers it requires.
- Child sexual abuse material, or anything that sexualizes minors. We report it to the authorities as the law requires.
- Sexual services, and anything that facilitates trafficking or exploitation.
- Explosives, and weapons or devices whose sale to the public is illegal where you are.
- Controlled substances, and prescription drugs offered without the license the law requires.
- Government identity documents, licenses, badges and uniforms that impersonate officials.
- Personal information about other people offered for sale, or published to harass, expose or target them.
Listed only where the law allows, and you follow it
Some things are lawful to sell in some places, to some people, with conditions. You may list them only if the sale is lawful where you are and where the buyer is, you hold any license the law requires, and you follow the law's conditions (for example, background checks, age checks, transfers through a licensed dealer, or permits):
- Firearms, ammunition, their parts and accessories, and other weapons;
- alcohol, tobacco, vaping products and cannabis;
- live animals (re-homing a pet is fine where the law allows it);
- vehicles, boats and real estate, where licensing and disclosure laws apply (see the Publisher Terms);
- anything else that needs a license to sell, such as medical devices, pesticides or hazardous materials.
We may still take down a listing in this group if we reasonably believe it isn't lawful, or if it puts people at risk.
Honest listings
- Describe the real thing. No bait and switch: don't list something you don't have, at a price you won't honor, to bring people in.
- Show the real thing. Photos must be of the item listed, not of a similar one, and not altered to hide a defect or invent a detail (see Honest pictures in the Publisher Terms).
- Don't impersonate a person, a business or a brand, or suggest an endorsement you don't have.
- Don't discriminate. In particular, housing listings must follow fair housing law: no statement of preference, limitation or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or any other ground the law protects.
- No scams: no advance-fee schemes, fake escrow, phishing, pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes, or requests for payment by gift card or similar.
Not a showcase
A showcase is for things you offer people. Don't use the Service to:
- host files, run a blog or a campaign, or store things unrelated to listings;
- harass, threaten, defame or intimidate anyone;
- publish hate, or content that promotes violence, terrorism or self-harm;
- publish sexually explicit material;
- publish someone else's photos, words or trademarks without the right to.
Don't abuse Showcaser
- Don't probe, scan or test the Service's security, or get around its signing, its limits or its other protections, except through a security research arrangement we agree to in writing. If you find a vulnerability, please tell us.
- Don't overload the Service, or send it automated traffic other than through the App or tools we provide.
- Don't claim addresses you don't mean to use, or to keep them from their rightful owner, or that impersonate someone.
- Don't connect a domain you have no right to use.
- Don't reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, except as the law allows despite this limit.
- Don't resell the Service or offer it to others as your own.
What we do about misuse
When we learn of a possible violation (from a report, a legal request, or signs of an attack), we may look at the showcase, and we may: take down a listing, a page or a photo; take the showcase offline; take back an address; or report to law enforcement where the law requires or allows. We take the smallest step that deals with the problem. Where it is reasonable, lawful and safe, we tell the owner first, through the showcase's contact details, and give them a chance to fix it. Taking a showcase offline doesn't delete it, unless the law requires us to.
We can't read a showcase's app-only fields, and we don't try to.
Reporting
To report a showcase, a listing, an infringement or a security vulnerability, use the form on our support page, with the showcase's address and what is wrong. For a copyright complaint, include what section 9 of the Terms of Service asks for. If you bought something through a showcase and something went wrong, that is between you and the seller; tell us too if you think it was a scam.
