Terms of Service
Last updated: October 20, 2026
These are the terms for using Showcaser. We have tried to make them readable, and to be direct about what matters most: your showcase is yours, the sale is between you and the person who buys, and there is very little in between that we see or answer for.
Please read sections 5 to 9 and 17 to 21 closely. They cover your key, what you may list, the law you take on as a seller, the limits of our liability, and how disputes are resolved: under California law, in the courts of Santa Barbara County, California.
1. Who these terms are with, and how you agree
Showcaser is published by Manolab, LLC, a California limited liability company ("Manolab", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between Manolab and you, and they cover:
- the Showcaser app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, on the App Store as Showcaser Listing (the "App");
- the service that stores showcases and serves them as websites, at name.showcaser.app and at owners' own domains (the "Service");
- the website at showcaser.app (the "Site");
together, "Showcaser". A showcase is the website an owner makes with the App, and the files it is built from.
How you agree. You accept these terms, our Acceptable Use Policy and our Publisher Terms by tapping or clicking to agree when the App asks you to, or by signing an agreement with us that includes them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. If you don't agree, don't make a showcase.
If you make a showcase for a business, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and "you" includes that business. If you make a showcase for someone else (a client, a relative), you agree to these terms for yourself until you hand it over, and the person you hand it to must agree to them too.
Visiting a showcase needs no agreement with us. If you visit one, section 8 and our Acceptable Use Policy still tell you what Showcaser is and isn't, and how to report a showcase.
2. The short version
This summary helps you find your way; the full sections below are the terms.
- Showcaser is a place to show things: an app that publishes a website of your listings, and a host that serves it. It isn't a shop, a marketplace or a payment service. There is no checkout.
- Your showcase is yours, and so is everything in it. It belongs to a key on your devices; whoever holds the key controls it. We can't recover a lost key.
- You are the seller. You answer for what you list, for describing it honestly, and for the law that comes with selling it. The sale is between you and the buyer; we are not part of it.
- We don't check listings before they go live, and we can't vouch for any showcase or anything sold through one.
- Showcaser is provided as is, and our liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the past 12 months or US$100, except where the law doesn't allow a limit.
3. What Showcaser is, and what it isn't
What it is. You photograph and describe the things you sell in the App, and publish. The App prepares your photos on your device and sends your showcase's files to our Service, which turns them into a fast website that visitors can browse and search. Visitors reach you by the phone number, text number, email address and street address you choose to show.
What it isn't.
- It isn't a party to any sale. There is no cart, no checkout and no payment through Showcaser (section 8).
- It isn't a marketplace. We don't list your showcase anywhere, rank it, promote it, or bring you buyers.
- It isn't an inbox. Visitors contact you directly; no message passes through us, and we can't see whether anyone did.
- It isn't a registrar. If you use your own domain, it stays with your registrar, under its terms.
- It isn't a backup. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose (section 15).
- It isn't legal advice. Nothing in Showcaser, including its listing schemas and their fields, tells you what the law requires you to disclose.
4. Who may use Showcaser
Showcaser is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to use it, and able to form a binding contract. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and never knowingly from a child under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. You may not use Showcaser if you are barred from doing so under the laws that apply to you, including the sanctions and export laws in section 24.
5. Your showcase and your key
There is no account. A showcase belongs to a private key the App makes and keeps in your iCloud Keychain, which Apple syncs to your other devices on the same Apple ID. Our Service accepts a change to your showcase only when it is signed by that key.
- Whoever holds the key controls the showcase. Your recovery key is that key written out as one line of text and a QR code. Anyone you give it to (a helper, a client, a buyer of your business) can change, hide or delete everything in your showcase, and read its app-only fields. Give it only to people you trust, and never send it to us.
- We can't recover a lost key, and we keep no copy of it. (If we set a showcase up for you, we make its key and hand it to you as a recovery key; once you tell us you have it, we delete our copy. Until then, we can change your showcase too.) If you lose every device that holds the key and you have no recovery key, nobody, including us, can change your showcase again. We can still take it off the web if you ask and show us it is yours, so keep your recovery key safe.
- You are responsible for what is done with your key, by you or by anyone who has it, until you tell us it was taken. If you think someone else has your key, tell us through the support page: we can help you take the showcase offline.
- Addresses (name.showcaser.app) are first come, first served. Some names are reserved, and we may take back an address that infringes someone's rights, impersonates someone, or misleads (section 16). An address you give up can be claimed by someone else.
6. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy, which is part of these terms. It says what may never be listed and what may be listed only where the law allows.
7. Your content
What's yours stays yours. "Your content" means everything you put into your showcase: its text, listings, photos, videos, contact details and pages. As between you and Manolab, you own your content.
What you let us do with it. You give Manolab a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, copy, transmit, display and serve your content, and to make the copies a website needs (such as caches), only to publish your showcase at its addresses, to run, secure and support Showcaser, and to comply with the law. The license lasts for as long as your content is published, and after that only as long as we need to keep a copy (for example, until our storage or caches let it go, to answer a report, or because the law requires it). We don't use your showcase to advertise Showcaser without asking you first.
You promise that you have the rights to everything you publish, including every photo, and the permission of anyone who appears in it where the law requires it; and that publishing it doesn't break the law or anyone's rights.
Everything you publish is public. Anyone can see, copy and keep what your showcase shows, and search engines index it. Taking something down later doesn't take it back from people who already have it.
We don't train AI models on your showcase, and we don't give it to anyone to train theirs.
8. Sales happen between people
Showcaser shows things; it doesn't sell them. Any sale, deposit, trade or other deal that starts from a showcase is only between the owner and the other person. Manolab is not a party to it, isn't the seller or the agent of either side, doesn't hold or move any money, and doesn't take a share.
- For owners: you are the seller, and you are responsible for your listings, your prices, the item, its condition, delivery, returns, warranties, taxes, and every law that applies to selling it (see the Publisher Terms).
- For visitors: a showcase is published by its owner, not by us. We don't check owners, listings, prices or descriptions, and we can't vouch for any of them. See the thing in person, check it, and check who you are dealing with before you pay anything. A problem with a purchase is between you and the seller.
9. Copyright and other rights
If you believe a showcase infringes your copyright or other rights, send us a notice through the form on our support page. A copyright notice should include:
- your name and contact details, and your signature (a typed name is enough);
- what work you say is infringed;
- the address of the showcase and of each listing, page or photo you object to;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the right or may act for its owner.
We will take down or disable what a valid notice identifies, and tell the owner where we can. An owner who believes it was taken down by mistake can send us a counter-notice with the same details, the material's address before it was removed, consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for their district (or, outside the US, any district where we may be found), and a statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake. We may put the material back unless the person who complained tells us they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringers. We take showcases offline, in appropriate circumstances, when their owners repeatedly infringe.
10. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions (for example through the support page), we may use them without owing you anything. Don't send us anything you consider confidential.
11. Fees and subscriptions
Today Showcaser costs nothing, and new showcases are by invitation. Our Service makes a new showcase only when it is countersigned with the key of a showcase we choose (today, a key we hold); we may stop making new ones, or change who may, at any time. This lasts until we turn plans on, which we will tell you about in the App ahead of time.
Plans. Once plans are on, a showcase is kept by a subscription bought in the App. There are three plans: Showcase (your site at a showcaser.app address), Own domain (at a domain you own), and Business (more storage and up to five own domains), each monthly or yearly. The App shows each plan's price, period and storage before you buy. One subscription can keep several of your showcases, which share its storage; it is the subscription of your Apple ID, so it works on each of your devices signed in to that Apple ID. Whoever pays for a showcase is separate from who may change it, and an Owner of a showcase can move it onto their own plan. There is no free trial.
Billing. Any price, purchase or subscription in the App is billed by Apple to your Apple ID, under Apple's terms. We never see your payment details. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you manage or cancel it in your Apple ID settings (Manage your subscriptions). Refunds go through Apple too: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't refund an App Store purchase ourselves.
Storage and limits. When a showcase's plan is full, new photos and videos stop uploading until there is room or a bigger plan; everything else keeps working, so you can always mark something sold or change a price. Nothing is deleted for being over a limit.
If a subscription lapses, each showcase it paid for keeps its site for 30 days, taking edits but no new photos or videos; the App says the day. After that the site comes off the web, and it comes back as it was when a plan pays for it again. Nothing is deleted when a plan ends. Showcases made before plans existed will be told in the App, ahead of time, what changes for them.
12. Our rights in Showcaser
Showcaser, including the App, the Service, the Site, their software, design, layouts, themes and documentation, and the Showcaser name and logo, belongs to Manolab and its licensors and is protected by law. Your license to install and use the App comes from Apple's standard end user license agreement (section 23), not from these terms. Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service and the Site. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer (except as the law allows despite this limit), resell or redistribute Showcaser, or use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your showcase, without our written permission. The open source parts of Showcaser are listed in our Open Source Notices, under their own licenses.
13. Your own domain
You may connect a domain you own or have the right to use. You keep it at your registrar, under its terms; you change its DNS records yourself. We register it with Cloudflare so it can be served and given a security certificate, and we look up its public records to show you how it is going. Once it works, your showcase's name.showcaser.app address sends visitors to it. You are responsible for renewing the domain and for the records you set; if it lapses or is pointed elsewhere, your showcase stops answering there. When you disconnect it, we remove it from Cloudflare. You may not connect a domain you have no right to use.
14. Availability, changes and early versions
We work to keep Showcaser running well, but it may be interrupted, slowed or unavailable, including for maintenance, and things outside our control (Apple, iCloud Keychain, Cloudflare, your registrar, networks) can stop it working. We may change, add or remove features, layouts, themes and fonts. If we remove something your showcase depends on, we will tell you in the App where we reasonably can.
Early versions (such as TestFlight builds, and features we call preview, beta or early access) may be unfinished, may change or disappear, and are provided with no commitments of any kind.
15. Taking your showcase with you
Your showcase is plain files: its site and listings as readable JSON, and its photos and videos. The App doesn't have an export yet. Until it does, ask us through the support page and we will send you a copy of your showcase's files. Keep your own originals of your photos and words; the App uploads reduced copies of photos, not the originals.
16. Suspension and ending
You can stop at any time. Hide or delete your listings, give up your address, disconnect your domain, or ask us to take your showcase offline or delete it.
We may take down a listing, a page or a photo, take a showcase offline, or take back an address, if we reasonably believe it breaks these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy or the Publisher Terms, harms people or the Service, infringes someone's rights, or if the law requires it. We will take the smallest step that deals with the problem: a listing before a showcase. Where it is reasonable, lawful and safe, we will tell you first through your showcase's contact details, say why, and give you a chance to fix it; you can answer through the support page. Taking a showcase offline doesn't delete it, unless the law requires us to, so you keep a way to fix the problem or take your files with you.
We may also stop offering Showcaser entirely, with at least 60 days' notice in the App and on the Site where we reasonably can, so you can take your showcase with you (section 15).
What survives. Sections 7 to 9, 12 and 17 to 26, and anything else that by its nature should, survive the end of these terms.
17. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, Showcaser is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranties of any kind, express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and quiet enjoyment, and any warranties arising from a course of dealing or usage of trade.
Without limiting that, we don't warrant that Showcaser will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free; that your showcase will be found by search engines or bring you buyers; that data won't be lost; or that any showcase, owner, listing, price, description or item is accurate, lawful, safe or real.
Some places don't allow some of these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you; section 21 says more for consumers outside the United States. Where a warranty can't be excluded, it is limited to the shortest period the law allows. If you live in New Jersey, nothing in sections 17 to 19 limits any right you have under New Jersey law that can't be limited.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- Manolab won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, sales, business, goodwill or data, or the cost of substitute services, arising from or related to Showcaser or these terms, however caused and on any theory of liability (contract, tort including negligence, or otherwise), even if we were told they were possible.
- Manolab won't be liable for any sale, deal or dispute between an owner and anyone else; for what any showcase says or shows; for a lost or shared key or recovery key; or for Apple's, Cloudflare's, a registrar's or another third party's services, except to the extent the loss was caused by our breach of these terms or by a defect in Showcaser's own software.
- Manolab's total liability for all claims arising from or related to Showcaser or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid Manolab for Showcaser in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) US$100.
These limits apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose, and they reflect that Showcaser is offered without charge today.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, gross negligence, willful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, violation of law where the law doesn't allow the limit, or any liability or right that can't be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you, including statutory damages under privacy laws.
19. Indemnity
If you use Showcaser for a business, you will defend, indemnify and hold harmless Manolab and its members, officers, employees and agents from and against any third-party claims, and the resulting losses, liabilities, damages and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees), arising from: your showcase and what it shows; anything you sell or offer through it, and your dealings with buyers; your breach of these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Publisher Terms or the law; or your violation of anyone's rights.
If you use Showcaser only for yourself, not for a business (for example, selling your own car or your own furniture), you give this indemnity only for claims arising from your intentional misuse of Showcaser or your violation of law, and only to the extent the law where you live allows.
We will tell you promptly of any claim, let you control the defense (though we may join with our own counsel at our own cost), and cooperate reasonably. You won't settle a claim that admits fault for us or binds us without our consent.
20. Resolving disputes
20.1 Talk to us first
Most problems can be solved by talking. Before bringing a claim, you agree to send us a written notice describing it and the relief you want, through the support page named in section 26. We will send our notices to the contact details you give us, or those on your showcase. We each agree to try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 60 days after the notice is received. The time limit for bringing a claim is paused during this period. Either of us may still ask a court for urgent relief during this period, such as an injunction to stop infringement or abuse of the Service.
20.2 Governing law and courts
These terms, and any dispute arising from or related to Showcaser or these terms, are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any such dispute will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Santa Barbara County, California, and you and Manolab consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
21. Consumers in the EU, the UK and other countries with mandatory consumer law
If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country whose law gives consumers protections a contract can't remove:
- you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, even though these terms choose California law, and you may bring claims in your local courts; section 20 doesn't take that away;
- sections 17 and 18 apply only as far as that law allows. In particular, we are responsible under the statutory rules for the conformity of digital content and services where they apply, and for loss that was reasonably foreseeable and caused by our breach of these terms;
- we will change these terms only for a valid reason (a change in the law or in the Service, or to address misuse), and you can stop using Showcaser before a change applies.
22. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. We will post the new version here with a new version and date at the top and keep earlier versions published on this site. If a change is material, we will tell you in advance, in the app or on this website, at least 30 days ahead where we reasonably can. Changes required by law, or that only add new features and don't reduce your rights, may take effect sooner. If you don't agree to a change, stop using Showcaser. We will ask you to agree to material changes the same way you agreed to these terms.
A change to how disputes are resolved won't apply to any claim that arose before the change.
23. The App's license, and Apple
The App is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Apple standard EULA), not under these terms. Where the two conflict about the App license, Apple's agreement controls. Apple isn't a party to these terms; Manolab, not Apple, is responsible for the App and its support. Questions, complaints or claims about the App go to Manolab, LLC, through our support page.
These terms govern the Service, the Site, your content and the other matters they cover, and apply to your use of the App alongside Apple's agreement. You must also follow the terms of the third-party services you use with the App, such as iCloud and your wireless carrier.
24. Export controls and sanctions
Showcaser is subject to US export control and sanctions laws. You may not use, export or re-export it in violation of them, including to a country or region under comprehensive US sanctions, or for anyone on a US restricted-party list.
25. General terms
- Entire agreement. These terms (with the policies they refer to, and any separate agreement you sign with us) are the whole agreement between you and Manolab about Showcaser.
- Assignment. You may not transfer these terms without our written consent; handing someone your recovery key gives them control of the showcase, and they must agree to these terms themselves. We may transfer these terms in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, or to an affiliate; we will say so in the App or on the Site before the transfer, and the new owner will be bound by them.
- Severability and waiver. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect and that part is enforced as far as possible. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it.
- No third-party beneficiaries. Nobody other than you and Manolab, including a visitor or a buyer, has rights under these terms.
- Force majeure. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
- Independent parties. Nothing here creates a partnership, employment or agency relationship, between you and us or between us and anyone you sell to.
- Electronic notices. You agree to receive notices electronically, in the App, on the Site or at your showcase's contact details, and that they satisfy any writing requirement.
- California users. Under California Civil Code section 1789.3, California users may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs in writing at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, California 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
