The listing schema

What a listing schema is, the four built-in ones, how the first change makes one your own, and switching between them

Your listing schema says what every listing in your showcase has: its fields (Year, Make, Price…) and its statuses (Available, Sold…). It drives both a listing's form in the app and what the site shows.

Open the listings page (Inventory, or what your first tab is called), then Edit (the pencil) in its header: Inventory Settings. It holds the tab name, the photo shape, then the listing schema. Every change there (the tab name, the photo shape, fields and statuses, another schema) waits for the check mark in the header, which publishes them all at once; the ✕ or the back arrow discards them, asking first. Removing a field or status that listings use asks what to do with them at that moment.

Every listing has

Whatever the schema, every listing has Photos and video, a Status, a Summary and a Description. Inventory Settings lists them first, under Every listing has, each marked Built in with a lock: they are always there and can't be changed. Below them come the schema's own Fields and Statuses.

The built-in schemas

  • Vehicles: Year, Make and Model (the headline), Price, Odometer, VIN and Stock #. Statuses Available, Pending, On hold, Sold and Hidden.
  • Artwork: Title, Category, Size, Medium, Year, Price (Price on request when empty), Editions, and Where it is, kept only in the app. Statuses Available, Collection, Sold and Hidden.
  • Tools & equipment: Brand, Model, Category, Condition, Year, Serial # and Kept in; no price. Statuses In the shop, Lent out, Out for repair and Hidden.
  • General: Name, Price, Category and Condition, with the Vehicles statuses.

Making it yours

The built-in schemas never change. The first time you change anything in one (rename a field, add a choice, add a status), your showcase gets its own copy, named like Vehicles — mine, and the change is made there. Your own schemas are listed under Yours; Rename… gives the one you wear a name of its own.

Every change you publish here with the check mark reaches the site straight away.

Switching schemas

The schema's name at the top, beside Wearing, is a menu: Built in, then Yours. Choosing another asks first, and says everything it will do: Switch to General? Its fields and statuses replace these. It also says how many listings have values the new schema doesn't show (they stay in the listings, unseen, and come back if you switch back), which listings will move to its first status because it lacks theirs, and how many will be re-saved.

Switching back to a schema you had is how you undo a switch.

Limits

A schema has at most 30 fields (hidden ones included) and 12 statuses. A pick-list has at most 50 choices.
