What your showcase's host keeps, what it can't read, what it never learns about you or your visitors, and who can change your site
Showcaser keeps as little as a website can. A showcase is a folder of files on Showcaser's host, and nothing more.
What the host keeps
- What you publish: your site's details, pages, layout, theme and fonts, and each listing with its photos and video.
- Listings you have hidden, stored readable like the rest but never shown on the site.
- The public half of your key, so it can check that a change really comes from you.
- Your address and, if you connect one, your own domain, so visitors reach the right site.
- Sealed values: your app-only fields and status notes, as locked blocks the host can't open. Only a device with your showcase's key can read them. See Only in this app (LS-5).
What it never keeps
- No account. No name, email address or password, because there is nothing to sign in to.
- Nothing about visitors. No accounts, no tracking, no view counts, no analytics. Search and sorting run in the visitor's own browser. Their light or dark choice is kept in their browser, not by us.
- No forms. Visitors reach you by your phone, text number, email and address, as links. Nothing they write passes through your site.
- No third parties on your pages. Fonts come from your own site, never from a font service, so no one else learns who visits.
Who can change your site
Only a device holding your showcase's key. Every change is signed with it, and the host refuses anything else. The key is in your iCloud Keychain, and in the hands of anyone you have given the recovery key to. See Your key and iCloud Keychain (GS-3). If you lose every copy of the key, nobody can change the site any more, Showcaser included, so keep the recovery key somewhere safe.
Before you publish
Everything on the site is public: your phone number, your address, what is in your photos. A photo of your driveway shows your driveway, even with its location removed. If you'd rather not publish a number, leave it out of Site details.
The same manual ships inside the app. This section as Markdown
