A layout decides how your site arranges itself: how the list looks, and how a listing's page is laid out. The colors are your theme's and the type is your fonts'. Every layout is designed and tested, so whichever you choose, the site stays calm.

Open **Site** in the list (the sidebar on the iPad and Mac), the **Layout** tab. A choice waits for the tab's check mark, then the site changes. A layout's options, such as Cards' photo shape, are in Inventory Settings (**Edit**, the pencil, on the listings page).

Each layout is drawn with a small sketch made from your own photos. Tap or click one to choose it, then publish the tab. Each layout keeps its own options, so switching back and forth loses nothing.

## Cards

*A photo cut to shape, the name and price under each.* Cars, boats, houses. The list has a search box at the top, and the count and sorts above the cards.

- **Photo shape**: **Landscape** (4:3) or **Square**, which suits jewelry and furniture. *Photos are always kept whole, so changing this never loses anything.*

## Gallery

*Every picture whole, as taken, in a wall; nothing under them, and a red dot when sold.* For art. Each piece's page shows it whole, as large as the screen allows. A new showcase on the Artwork schema starts in this layout.

- **Opens on**: **Grid** or **Wall**. The grid is the pictures as taken; the wall hangs every piece at its real size. Visitors can switch either way. See The Gallery's wall (ST-5).
- **A piece with no size hangs as**: **Small**, **Medium** or **Large** (12, 24 or 36 inches on its long side), labeled *size not given* on the wall.
- **Frame**: how every painting is framed on the wall: **Wood**, **Walnut**, **Black**, **White** or **None**. Books stand on a ledge. Only the wall shows frames.

The Gallery's top is slimmer: no search box and no sorts, and the light and dark switch, when your theme has both, sits at the top right.

## The first tab

**First tab** names the list of everything, the first tab on your site. Empty, it is your schema's word: *Inventory*, or *Work* for the Artwork schema. It is **Tab name** in Inventory Settings: type a name and publish with the check mark.

## New layouts

The list of layouts and their options comes from Showcaser's own servers, so a new layout or option appears here as soon as it exists, without an app update. If the list can't load, the screen says *The layouts couldn't be loaded* with **Try Again**.
