Buyers can't judge a painting's size from a photo. A **Dimensions** field gives each piece a real width, height and, if you like, depth, so the site can show it at its true size.

## Adding a Dimensions field

In your listing schema, add a field and choose the type **Dimensions**. See Fields and their types (SC-2). Its editor has:

- **Unit**: **Inches** or **Centimetres**, the unit a new listing starts in.
- **Written as**: **Height × width** or **Width × height**, how the site writes the size.
- **Has a depth**: adds a third number.

## Filling it in

In a listing, the field takes **Width**, **Height** (and **Depth**) as numbers, and **in** or **cm**. Sizes you have already used in other listings appear under it as one-tap shortcuts.

Two gentle warnings, which never stop you publishing:

- *These proportions don't match the photo — width and height swapped?*
- *That's over 15 feet — is the unit right?*

Until both width and height are numbers, the field is left empty.

## On the site

- The size shows in the listing's details, written the way the field says, such as *30 × 24 in* for a piece 24 inches wide and 30 high.
- In the Gallery layout's wall, each piece hangs at exactly that size. See The Gallery's wall (ST-5).

## View on your wall

On a piece's own page in the Gallery layout, a piece with dimensions has **View on your wall**. On an iPhone or iPad, it opens the piece in augmented reality, at its real size, as a stretched canvas, so a visitor can see it on their own wall. The button appears only where the visitor's browser can do this.

The Artwork schema's **Size** field, typed as plain text (such as *24 × 30 framed*), still hangs a piece on the wall at about that size. Only a Dimensions field gives View on your wall.
